Hopeful News for Bone Marrow Transplant Patients
A recent study reveals a new imaging agent that can safely show engraftment as early as days after transplant—giving a helpful and hopeful preview to patients and their doctors. Simply not-knowing whether the newly infused cells have survived and started to grow causes great trepidation for patients and their families. This new study could change that.
Researchers are also able to see the complex journey that transplanted cells take as they become engrafted into the patients body.
