The Icla da Silva Foundation goes the ‘extra mile’ to ensure that another life is saved. A life-threatening financial barrier was removed so a brother could be brought from the Philippines to donate his bone marrow and save his sister’s life.

The Icla da Silva Foundation removes barriers to treatment. Some of these barriers may seem less consequential, but to the mother of a patient with blood cancer, any support can make a world of difference.

“You are the answer to my prayer.” We received this message from Katie, a single mother, diagnosed with leukemia, whose only cure is a bone marrow transplant. Katie needed our help to overcome a specific barrier before receiving her transplant.

We are removing barriers to treatment by providing bone marrow transplant patients with emotional, logistical, and financial support. For patients demonstrating financial need, our IclaCares program is awarding grants that are specific to the needs of transplant patients.
