Boy Meets His Bone Marrow Donor

Six-year-old boy Lee Marenette survived a chronic disease called IPEX, thanks to a bone marrow transplant. Lee and his mother Anne Hamming went from the United States to Porto Rico to meet his bone marrow donor, the person that gave him another chance in life. The Porto Rican Jessmary Burgos was overwhelmed to meet Lee for the first time. “I just want to thank God for giving me the opportunity to give life. If I had to do it another thousand times, I would do it!”, she said.

Jessmary joined the Be The Match Registry during one of the bone marrow drives held by The Icla da Silva Foundation in Puerto Rico.
