Partner Spotlight: Binghamton Bearcats
We regularly partner with Fraternities, Sororities, Sports Teams and other Community Organizations who help us add potentially life saving donors to the Be the Match Registry by hosting a bone marrow drive. You can easily do the same by clicking the link and entering your information. A community service rep from Icla da Silva will contact you to go over the details.
Recently, we partnered with the Binghamton Bearcats to host a drive on campus. The men’s lacrosse team and the athletic department at the University of Binghamton in New York helped us promote the drive and volunteered onsite to drive excitement and attendance.
Representatives from Icla da Silva were onsite with forms, kits and promotional material. They helped train volunteers, educate attendees and developed an online registration code, specifically for the Bearcats join.bethematch.org/bearcats. Thanks to the teams involvement, we registered 175 new members to the Be the Match registry in just two days.
Be the Match is the largest registry of potential bone marrow donors in the world and the Icla da Silva Foundation is the largest recruitment center for Be the Match. 70% of patients in need of a transplant don’t have a fully matched donor in their family. By adding more potential donors, we increase the likelihood of more patients finding a match. You and your organization can be that match!
The Bearcats developed this short video about the experience:

Thank you Binghamton Bearcats, we’ll see you next semester!
